Savant Capital Management Recognizes National 401(k) Day

September 13, 2011

Rockford, IL (September 13, 2011) – Savant Capital Management is promoting awareness of National 401(k) Day from September 19 to 23. Each year The Profit Sharing/401(k) Council of America (PSCA) promotes National 401(k) Day, but new in 2011, everyday is 401(k) Day. It’s a time to spread awareness about the importance of saving for retirement and utilizing your company’s 401(k).

Everyone dreams of reaching their final destination of retirement – the possibilities and excitement of life after work! The good news is, your company’s 401(k) plan can take you there and help make your retirement dreams a reality. Savant and the PSCA strongly believe that companies need to communicate with and educate their employees about the importance of saving for retirement. PSCA created 401(k) Day as an annual event to promote retirement savings education and encourage employees to:

  • Enroll in their company’s 401(k) plan
  • Increase their contribution to their 401(k) plan
  • Take control of their savings
  • Learn about available investment options

"While the share of employees being offered 401(k) plans is rapidly growing, retirement plan coverage is still stagnating," said Kim Cady, Retirement Plan Specialist, Savant Capital Management. "This means that though more employers are establishing 401(k) plans or other retirement plan designs, fewer employees are fully participating in them, and that’s a very troubling trend."

In addition to building awareness, Savant is delivering a presentation on How to Build the Ideal 401(k) during the Rockford Chamber of Commerce Regional Business Expo. The presentation will take place on September 22 at 3:30 p.m. at the former Sears Essentials building at Riverside and Forest Hills.

The presentation will outline the following:

  • What the ideal 401(k) plan can provide in optimal plan design
  • Why employees are failing to take full advantage of all their retirement benefits
  • What a fiduciary is and why it’s important
  • Importance of education for both the management team and employees
