October 6, 2010
Rockford, IL (October 6, 2010) – Savant Capital Management, a locally owned and nationally recognized fee-only wealth management firm headquartered in Rockford, today was honored by the Rockford Area Arts Council (RAAC) for "Community Impact by a Business" at the 2010 State of the Arts Award.
From theater and museums, to music and dance, Savant’s support in Rockford’s diverse cultural offerings has demonstrated a deep commitment to the Rockford area arts community, with hundreds of thousands of dollars in advertising and sponsorships, donations and long-term financial pledges to a variety of organizations. From theater and museums to music and dance, Savant’s support has been integral in building and sustaining Rockford’s diverse cultural offerings.
To give artists and arts advocates the recognition they deserve, RAAC and the City of Rockford created the State of the Arts Award to honor individual artists, arts advocates corporations, exception students of the arts, educators and creative cultural events which have made significant contributions to the arts and whose contributions have resulted in a major and positive impact on the community.
Savant has invested in the Rockford Symphony Orchestra (RSO) for more than seven years and is the annual sponsor for their opening night performance. The company has been a season advertiser and sponsor of the Black Magic Ball. Savant Partner Brent Brodeski also has been an active member on the RSO finance committee and board of directors.
Savant leaders also recognized that while the symphony isn’t accessible to everyone, music should be, so the company has in recent years sponsored Rockford Park District’s Sounds of Summer free concerts.
Beyond music, Savant has been a sponsor and program advertiser for organizations including: the Rockford Dance Company, Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center, the Artists’ Ensemble Theater, Byron Civic Theater, NAT Theater, the Bach Chamber Choir, Rockford Art Museum’s Evergreen Ball, Midway Village’s Night at the Museum, and Rock Valley College’s Starry, Starry Night Annual Dinner.
Savant also has been a solid supporter of Discovery Center Museum over several years, contributing thousands of dollars to the organization in the last few years for its "Connecting Our Future" campaign, the joint capital campaign with the Burpee Museum of Natural History. Savant Partner Tom Muldowney continues to sit on the Discovery Center board of directors.
"The kind of financial giving Savant practices is more than just writing checks; it’s investing in our community," said Scott Saporiti of Adams Letter Services and nominator for Savant’s award. "Savant has developed a culture of creativity and entrepreneurship. The impact of Savant’s giving is like a ripple in a pond, it keeps growing and growing and positively affects so many others."
