Martin is a financial advisor in Savant’s Wilmette, IL office and a member of the Advisory Team. He is responsible for managing all aspects of the financial planning and investment process for Savant’s clients. He regularly meets with clients, other advisors, portfolio managers, and financial planners to formulate and coordinate effective planning, investment, and tax strategies.
Martin has been involved in the financial services industry since 2013. Prior to joining Savant, he was an advisor for two large wealth management firms. Martin also has prior clinical experience as an art therapist in psychiatric and special education settings and as graduate faculty at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Columbia College Chicago. As a Chicago writer, Martin has helped several large nonprofit organizations raise funds for their public programs.
Martin earned a bachelor of applied arts degree in sculpture from San Diego State University and a master of arts degree in art therapy from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
As a long-time resident of Lincoln Square, Martin and his wife are always looking for ways to promote community. In 2012 Martin doubled the size of a neighborhood children’s park by brokering an agreement between the Chicago Park District and the Chicago Transit Authority, with assistance from two aldermen, several nonprofit organizations, and other key community members. More recently, Martin has been involved in efforts to build a sense of community around a local social service nonprofit contracted by the state of Illinois to serve at-risk, adjudicated youths.
Martin is fluent in French. He and his wife have two children and have lived in Chicago’s Lincoln Square neighborhood since 2000.
Martin joined Team Savant in February 2019.
